CEO conference group 250 pxThe business world moves at startling speed and executives are faced with complexities never before encountered.  The Coaching Excellence in Organizations (CEO) program was created by Bob Dunham, founder of the Institute of Generative Leadership, to develop the skills, abilities and wisdom required to lead organizations in today’s complex, changing business environment. CEO takes advantage of Bob Dunham’s 30 years of engagement in the ontological and generative approach, and his experience as a senior executive in multiple companies.

Coaching Excellence in Organizations is a multi-year, graduate-level coach training program for experienced coaches. The Foundations of Generative Leadership workshop is a pre-requisite. CEO empowers coaches to deliver greater value to their clients by showing them how to identify and address the underlying concerns, breakdowns, and opportunities in their organizations.

 CEO Program Details

Coaching Excellence in Organizations (CEO) is a rigorous, three-year, graduate level training for organizational coaches and leaders who coach, enrolled a year at a time in a “community of practice” learning environment.  Each year includes three in-person conferences and virtual work in between.

Attending one Foundations of Generative Leadership Workshop is a prerequisite for joining the program.  Once you have completed the FGL Workshop, you will be invited to join a team of fellow learners and be assigned a personal coach to accompany you in your learning.

The following elements make up the CEO program:

In-Person Conferences:  Stepping out of your normal routine and into a Newfield conference is an experience that lasts a lifetime.  These four days will be a mixture of lecture, group discussion, reflection, and practices all done with Newfield’s unique methodology.

Coaching:  In addition to the in-person conferences, you will receive 18 hours a year of personal coaching from a CEO-certified coach.  Each session focuses on empowering you to embody the skills of a powerful CEO-trained coach and leader.

Coaching Practice Guide/Workbook:   Our course coaching practice guides provide you with daily practices and opportunities for personal reflection about your learning.   They also allow your coach to track your learning progress, providing context for coaching conversations.

Learning Team:  Each participant will become part of a virtual (or in-person) learning team. Your team will engage in regular conversations, supporting your learning and completion of your coaching practice guides.

CEO Project:   An integral part of Newfield’s methodology is to “learn by doing.”  In each year of CEO, you will complete a project to demonstrate your ability to apply new skills and produce new results.  In your first year, you will need to shift the practices of a team.  In your second year, you will need to coach a leader to shift the practices of a team.  In your third you, you will need to make and fulfill an offer that is bigger than what you can do alone.  You have to build a team for this.

CEO Topics Include: managing commitments, capacity, breakdowns, and customer satisfaction; listening for commitment and care; team conversations; action meetings; getting your offers accepted – successful sales and marketing for coaches; effective planning and projects; the conversational anatomy of organizations; value creation; winning games; strategy conversations; generative leadership; leadership presence; power and politics; innovation practices; organizational change; living a good life; designing a successful client engagement; leading a coaching team; and others.

learn more about CEO?

1. Ask yourself, “Am I ready to invest in myself and my path towards
mastery?”  CEO is a rigorous and comprehensive program designed to change the way you show up in the world, approach challenges and opportunities, and generate results.

Throughout the program, we engage in recurrent practices for the sake of improving our performance and enhancing the effectiveness of the leaders, teams, and organizations we work with. CEO participants are most successful when they open to new ways of doing and being, fully engage in new practices, and take personal ownership for their results.
